Meet Concentration: Neegma's Unique-Answer Game

Concentration is a party game where everyone answers the same prompt, but the goal is to come up with an answer nobody else has.

Something in your pocket right now

Everyone's answer, grouped. The smaller the group, the bigger each share.

Telepathy rewards you for thinking like everyone else. Concentration takes the opposite approach: the more unique your answer is, the more points you get.

Everyone gets the same prompt and answers in secret. Once the answers are revealed, you'll see who thought alike and who went in a completely different direction.

How Concentration works

Concentration is a host-led game for 3 to 20 players, or 2 to 5 teams. You can play online with everyone on their own phone, or play from a single device with a One-host session.

  1. Everyone gets the same prompt. The host can use a prepared prompt from the Playground or create one during the game. With a set, each prompt waits on the host screen until it's shared, so the host can skip one that doesn't suit the room. There are no right or wrong answers. The goal is to think of something other people probably won't choose.

  2. Everyone answers in secret. Players or teams submit one answer without seeing what anyone else has written. The host only sees how many answers have been submitted.

  3. The answers are revealed. Once everyone is done, the answers appear together so the room can see which answers matched and which ones were different.

  4. Unique answers score more. Every group of matching answers shares 1000 points. A unique answer gets the full 1000 points, two matching answers get 500 each, and five matching answers get 200 each.

  5. The host can merge similar answers. If two answers are clearly the same but written slightly differently, the host can merge them before scoring. So something like "Coca-Cola" and "Coca Cola" can count as the same answer.

The result is simple: the more people who give the same answer, the fewer points each person gets.

A different kind of icebreaker

Concentration works well when you want people to learn a little more about how everyone thinks.

Meeting a new group

Use prompts that are personal, specific, or a little unexpected. The answers can quickly give everyone something to react to and talk about.

Team events

Use prompts about your team, your workplace, or everyday situations. Since everyone answers independently, quieter team members get the same chance to contribute as everyone else.

Parties and gatherings

Keep the prompts simple and let the answers create the conversation. It's easy to start with something familiar and gradually make the questions more interesting.

Quizzes and group activities

Concentration can also work as a break between more traditional quiz rounds. There are no facts to memorise, so everyone starts each prompt on the same footing.

Remote and hybrid teams

Everyone can answer privately from their own phone while the host shares the results on screen. The same format works whether everyone is in the same room or joining remotely.

Play it your way

Create a set of prompts in the Playground, let AI generate prompts around a topic, or write one yourself while you're playing.

You can play as individuals or split into teams. Online sessions let everyone answer from their phones, while One-host sessions let you run the game from a single device with no player phones or Wi-Fi needed.
